Because Michigan is unable to match federal transportation funds, the state is losing out on the federal dollars. Food Conference Offers Scholarships

The "Farm to School: Setting the Table for Wellness" conference is offering scholarships to students of Northwest Lower Michigan schools.
In a press release issued yesterday, the conference organizers announced:

Construction struggles, home values slide

11th Annual Student Photography Competition

The Traverse Area Camera Club is holding an open competition for students in grades 9-12 who live in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau and Wexford counties.

Points North: Grand Vision's Next Steps

On October 29 The Grand Vision was featured on Interlochen Public Radio's Points North program.
Guests included Marsha Smith, Executive Director of Rotary Charities and Chair of the Coordinating Group of The Grand Vision, and Matt Skeels, Director of Traverse City Transportation And Land Use Study (TC-TALUS). Also interviewed was Leelanau County Commissioner Jean Watkowski.

State may purchase 300+ acres in GT and Benzie Counties

The State of Michigan is considering buying over 300 acres in Grand Traverse and Benzie counties.
The Record-Eagle reports that the land under consideration is heavily forested and has 6,700 feet of water frontage along the Betsie River and Hall Creek.
