Cherry Capital Airport Climbs In Rankings, Adds Year Round Flights To Denver
MyNorth.com has this article on Cherry Capital Airport which was recently ranked fourth in a listing of Michigan's commercial airports:
"Cherry Capital Airport officials in Traverse City are pleased to have recently moved up in the rankings of commercial airports in our Great Lake State of Michigan—which makes taking Northern Michigan vacations even more convenient. Moving up in the rankings to the fourth position of commercial airports, Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City continues to offer exceptional services that those traveling in and out of Northern Michigan have come to expect. The regional support of ‘Buying and Flying from Nearby’ has been critical in the growth of services.
“We have worked hard to exceed expectations of those traveling into and from the area—whether for pleasure or business,” stated Airport Director, Stephen Cassens."
On top of that, the Record-Eagle has this report on the addition of year round flights to Denver from Cherry Capital:
"The Northwestern Regional Airport Commission tonight is expected to approve a Small Cities grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant will provide up to $400,000 for one year to help underwrite year-round direct flight service from Traverse City to Denver International Airport.
"Cherry Capital offered seasonal flight service to Denver over the last two summers through United Express, a regional air carrier for United Airlines that operates a hub at Denver International. Cherry Capital Executive Director Stephen Cassens said those seasonal flights operated at nearly 75 capacity and airport officials are optimistic there will be solid demand for year-round service.
"That's a strong market for us," Cassens said. "It has done well."
"The airport hopes to have the year-round service in place by the third quarter of 2010, Cassens said."
