The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, & Economic Growth's Bureau of Energy Systems will be launching a new "green" certification program.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the certification is geared for entertainment venues, convention centers and similar facilities:

The first to get certification are the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings, Grand Valley State University's L.V. Eberhard Center in Grand Rapids and the Detroit Institute of Arts.

One aim of the program is to encourage adoption of practices that conserve natural resources and prevent pollution.
