Summary and Goals Excerpt:
Executive Summary
The Public Involvement Committee formed in the summer of 2007 to support the efforts of the Grand Vision land use and transportation study. Its members (Appendix A) were primarily volunteers from throughout the six-county region, but also included members of the consulting team.Goals
The committee established the following goals:
- Engage the maximum number of people, with the broadest representation from all sectors of the region in the Grand Vision process, by attending workshops, participating in the Grand Vision Decision and providing input thru other means
- Increase the knowledge of the people in the region about a variety of options for the future.
The gathered citizen input was central to providing a clear agenda to local officials for implementation of a regional land use and transportation plan that has broad citizen support.

Results
More than 15,700 people participated in some way in the entire Grand Vision process – more than 8.5% of the region’s population. The participation on a per capita basis exceeds even some of the most highly successful public involvement planning efforts ever conducted across the country. A detailed demographic breakdown of participants is included in the “Participation” section of this report."
