(Traverse City, Michigan) – The Grand Vision has now finalized its schedule of citizen workshops for Antrim, Benzie, Kalkaska, Leelanau, and Wexford Counties.

The workshops, which will supplement the work done by about 1,500 participants at previous workshops in Grand Traverse County, offer local residents the chance to mark-up maps and show how they would like their counties to grow over the next 20 to 50 years.

Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided at each workshop. Here is the complete workshop schedule and registration information:

● Kalkaska County Workshop

May 7, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Kaliseum, on M-72 just west of Kalkaska.

● Leelanau County Workshop

May 8, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Suttons Bay High School, 310 Elm Street in Suttons Bay.

● Antrim County Workshop

May 27, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Shanty Creek's Summit Village Conference Center, One Shanty Creek Road, Bellaire.

● Wexford County Workshop

May 27, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Wexford County Civic Center, 1320 N. Mitchell St., Cadillac

● Benzie County Workshop

May 28, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Crystal Mountain Resort's James Bay Hall, 12500 Crystal Mountain Dr., Thompsonville

The website also offers an email signup list, an online survey, a forum, pictures of participants and marked-up maps from previous workshops, and much more information about the unique, wide-open, citizen-based regional planning project.

Findings from the five new workshops will be combined with results from the earlier sessions, in-depth research by the Grand Vision consulting team, and surveys to create unique, computerized "scenario planning" graphics. All citizens of the six-county region will be able to view those scenarios online and in print, and then choose their favorites during a "Grand Vision Decision" process that occurs in September.
